The Russian Ministry of Finance voiced a sensational idea yesterday that all citizens be obliged to keep tax registers, inform the public officials of their property, calculate their own taxes and bear punishments for errors as well. Anton Siluanov, the head of the Ministry, confessed that the official were unable to collect reliable information on the owners of taxable property. The initiative of the Ministry will bring back the queues in the tax inspectorates and increase corruption. Also, it will enable the owners of the not-accounted for immovable property to evade taxes. Maxim Rovinskiy, head of the tax and customs law practice of the Law Firm "YUST", commented on the situation.
